After the disappearance of Payet, the team from Marseilles was mentally affected, and the predators from Madrid smelt blood. The pressure was raised and Olympique was a defeated opponent in the ring who could not give a punch. The same concept was repeated after the break. Met veel overtuiging hebben de Colchoneros de beker te pakken. Hoewel het begin van de wedstrijd voor Olympique was, wisten zij hun kans niet om te zetten in een voorsprong. De mannen van el Cholo kwamen met de schrik vrij. Olympique kreeg vertrouwen om te voetballen en begon in hun voetbal steeds meer risico’s te nemen. Dat is precies wat Atletico wil. De mannen van el Cholo loerden als predators op hun kans om toe te slaan. Die kans kwam en die eerste fout werd meteen afgestraft. Olympique kreeg acht tellen, maar kwam deze klap nooit te boven. Het was voor hen een dreun van jewelste. Het kwam ook echt uit de lucht vallen, wat de mentale klap voor het team des te groter maakte. Atletico had een doelpoging die ver naast ging en dat was alles. Olympique was in de val gelokt en erin getrapt. Dit gaf de doorslag voor de overwinning van Atletico.
Na het wegvallen van Payet, was de ploeg uit Marseille mentaal aangeslagen, en de predators uit Madrid roken bloed. De druk werd opgevoerd en Olympique zat als een verslagen tegenstander in de ring die geen stoot meer kon uitdelen. Hetzelfde concept herhaalde zich na de rust. Bij het ingooien van Olympique ging het fout en de roofdieren van El Cholo sloegen weer toe. Dit was de genade klap en het gevecht was beslist.
Atletico wordt vaak betiteld als defensief voetballend team, waar de neutrale toeschouwer niet graag naar kijkt. Echter aan de successen die zij hebben bereikt, kan ik alleen maar concluderen dat dit ook een manier is om te winnen. Aan de hand van Simeone is Atletico herrezen uit de dood en staat het weer op de kaart, zowel nationaal als internationaal. Ik denk dat iedere trainer er wel voor zou tekenen om in 8 jaar vijf finales te mogen spelen en een aantal daarvan te winnen, landskampioen te worden en Super Cup en bekers te winnen met verdedigend voetbal. Hiervoor doe ik mijn sombrero af!
Uiteindelijk gaat het alleen om winnen! Daar zouden wij in Nederland wat van kunnen leren. Ik zou ervoor tekenen, en jij??
